Daddysruby, a California-bred Frac Daddy filly, won her career debut on Golden Gate Fields’ all-weather main track on Jan. 7, 2023, and then was transferred to trainer Peter Miller. She next ran against state-breds in two consecutive starts, a six-furlong allowance optional claiming race on dirt and another on turf going one mile, and won them both before testing open company in a 1 1/16-mile allowance optional claimer on the grass at Del Mar at the end of that track’s summer meet.

Daddysruby finished fourth in that race but bounced back impressively when returned to dirt for a six-furlong dash against open company Oct. 27 at Santa Anita, winning by 5 ¼ lengths.
That result motivated the filly’s connections to test deeper waters in the Grade 1 La Brea Stakes Dec. 26, a seven-furlong race on opening day of Santa Anita’s winter-spring meeting. Daddysruby responded with a game nose win over fellow Cal-bred Big Pond, which came after she set a contested early pace through swift fractions.
The filly is out of the winning You and I mare Youtheprizeandi.
