Chip Honcho won his maiden race in his second lifetime start as a 2-year-old on Nov. 20 in a one-mile race on a sloppy track at Churchill Downs. From there he was sent up against stakes company for his next outing in the $100,000 Gun Runner Stakes going 1 1/16 miles at Fair Grounds on Dec. 20. Sent off as the 3.90-1 third choice on the tote board in a field of six horses in the Gun Runner, Chip Concho pressed the pace throughout won prevailed in a tight finish by three-quarters of a length after a game stretch battle.
