Chess’s Dream finished second in each of his first two starts going a mile on the grass at Gulfstream Park in August and September 2020. After an unplaced finish on a sloppy track in his first try on dirt, the Jess’s Dream colt returned to the grass and earned his first win Dec. 13 with a five-length runaway victory.

Making the jump to stakes competition to kick off his 3-year-old season. Chess’s Dream was entered in the Grade 3 Kitten’s Joy Stakes Jan. 30 at Gulfstream. He stalked the pace from third while saving ground in the one-mile turf race, charged through an opening on the inside in the stretch, and shook free to win by two lengths.
Out of the Bellamy Road mare Achalaya, Chess’s Dream is a half-brother to Grade 2 winner Casa Creed.
