Originally based in the Michael MacDonald barn at Woodbine, Charmaine's Mia in 2021 joined the stable of trainer Phil d'Amato, based in Southern California. She won once from nine starts in 2020, finishing fourth in three stakes at Woodbine and Gulfstream Park.
She ran a career race in her 2021 debut, winning the Las Cienegas Stakes at Santa Anita Park on Jan. 9 in a 16-1 upset. It was her first career stakes win. She established a new track record for six furlongs on turf at Santa Anita, stopping the clock in an impressive 1:07.81.

In her next start, the Grade 3 Buena Vista Stakes on Feb. 20, she stretched out around two turns. She handled the stretchout in distance easily, winning as the 1.30-1 favorite under jockey Flavien Prat.
She won her third graded stakes of 2021 on Apr. 3, taking the Grade 2 Royal Heroine Stakes in gate-to-wire fashion with Prat in the saddle.
After missing the board in her next three graded stakes tires, Charmaine's Mia bounced back with a third-place effort in the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint at Del Mar on Nov. 6.
Both her parents are stakes winners. Her dam, Charming Vixen, won the 2011 Kentucky Cup Juvenile Fillies at Turfway Park. Her sire, The Factor, was a multiple Grade 1 winner on dirt, with three of his stakes wins coming at Santa Anita.
