Bo Cruz

Bo Cruz made his career debut in February of his 3-year-old season and won his maiden race in his first stretchout attempt in his second lifetime start with a 12-length victory at Fair Grounds on March 4, 2023. He proceeded to win again in his third outing when taking an allowance optional claiming race at Churchill Downs going 1 1/16 miles on May 6. That win led to a third-place finish in his next race in the Grade 3 Matt Winn Stakes on June 11 at Ellis Park. A month later he was sent off as the favorite in the $250,000 Iowa Derby at Prairie Meadows, where he showed speed but tired to finish eighth.

Bo Cruz had seven months between races and returned to make his 4-year-old debut on Feb. 12, 2024, with a third-place finish in an allowance optional claiming race at Fair Grounds. He opted for stakes competition in his second race back from the long layoff and pointed to the Grade 3 $300,000 Commonwealth Stakes going seven furlongs at Keeneland on April 6. Sent off as the 6-1 fourth choice on the tote board in a field of seven in the Commonwealth, Bo Crus pressed the early pace, battled for the lead, and then drew off to an easy 2 1/2-length victory.

Bo Cruz is trained by Al Stall Jr. He was bred in Kentucky by the sire Creative Cause out of the mare Quick Breeze by Ghostzapper.
