After several attempts to break his maiden, Atoka finally won for the first time on Aug. 13, 2021 at Ellis Park. He won a 6 1/2-furlong maiden special weight race by 6 1/2 lengths as the odds-on choice. In his next start, he won a first-level allowance on Sept. 4 at Ellis.
Atoka made his stakes debut in the Grade 3 Ack Ack Stakes at Churchill Downs on Oct. 2. He set the early pace and held on to finish third at 40.20-1.

Atoka was bred by KatieRich Farms and sold for $140,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall 2018 Yearling Sale. He's named after the town of Atoka, Oklahoma, where the late Jeff Lukas, the son of co-owner and trainer D. Wayne Lukas, lived.
