Adhamo, an Irish-bred Intello colt, began his racing career in France. He won his third start and then three more races in a row, culminating with a Group 3 victory on turf at Chantilly. Adhamo raced exclusively in group stakes after that in France, finishing third in a Group 2 stakes from five more starts.

In early 2022, Adhamo made his U.S. debut for owners Madaket Stables, Michael Dubb, and Louis Lazzinnaro and trainer Chad Brown. He closed with a rush in the Feb. 19 Grade 3 Fair Grounds Stakes but finished second by a head, and then also gained ground late but could only muster third as the favorite in the Grade 1 Old Forester Bourbon Turf Classic Stakes at Churchill Downs on the May 7 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve undercard.
Sent to Belmont Park for the Grade 1 Manhattan Stakes on the June 11 Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets undercard, Adhamo was blocked in early stretch but recovered to finish second behind wire-to-wire winner and stablemate Tribhuvan. He matched up with that foe again July 23 in the Grade 1 United Nations Stakes at Monmouth Park, and this time he found clear room under Flavien Prat at the top of the lane and took command in the final yards to score a breakthrough top-level victory by 1 ½ lengths.
Adhamo is out of the stakes-winning Invincible Spirit mare Foreign Tune.
