Running in the Family: Horse Racing's Family of Jockeys

Join America's Best Racing as we go behind-the-scenes with husband and wife Trevor McCarthy and Katie Davis McCarthy – both jockeys, eager to carry on a horse racing tradition.

Son of jockey Michael McCarthy, Trevor was introduced to the profession very young in life attending races and spending time around elite Thoroughbred racehorses. Ultimately, Trevor's dreams of becoming a jockey were realized ten years ago, and we were lucky enough to join him as he rode contender Valenzan Day in the Saratoga Special Stakes, a top stakes race for 2-year-old racehorses at Saratoga Race Course.

Katie Davis McCarthy, an accomplished jockey herself, has her own passion for racing and being a jockey. And, while Trevor's run at Saratoga didn't finish with a win, the family, including baby Riley (a future jockey?), remain true ambassadors to our sport.

Whether you are a long-time horse racing fan or new to the sport, America's Best Racing is your source for great written content and streaming video that’s helpful to both beginners and hardcore fans of the horse life. Get started today by visiting our website.
