With so many stakes for 3-year-olds bunched together in a small time period, it was inevitable that at least one of them would come up with the short end of the stick in terms of graded stakes talent. From the looks of it, Saturday’s $350,000, Grade 1 Coaching Club American Oaks at Saratoga is the one.
In years past, Saturday’s $1 million TVG.com Haskell Stakes at Monmouth Park marked the resumption of major stakes races for 3-year-olds following the Triple Crown.
Making the Grade, which will run through the 2020 Triple Crown races, focuses on the winners or top performers of the key races, usually from the previous weekend, who could make an impact on the Triple Crown.
