Imperial Hint and Curlin’s Approval earned victories on the July 1 Summit of Speed card at Gulfstream Park that earned them starting spots in the Breeders’ Cup World Championships in November. Imperial Hint’s triumph in the Grade 3 Smile Sprint Stakes earned him a berth in the TwinSpires Breeders' Cup Sprint on Nov.

This is my first column for America’s Best Racing. For the past 20 years, I was the turf editor and handicapper for the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the largest newspaper in the state of Nevada. I wrote a lot about handicapping, of course, and about things of interest going on in the horse racing industry.
