Catholic Boy Makes Dazzling Impression in Remsen Romp

NEW YORK — Trainer Jonathan Thomas had several thoughts swirling around his mind as he watched Catholic Boy gallop out powerfully after a fourth-place finish in the one-mile Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf on Nov. 3 at Del Mar.

One: The colt would welcome more ground.

Australian Star Winx Extends Winning Streak to 22 in Cox Plate Three-Peat

Nobody expected it to be this close, but Winx has completed her Ladbrokes Cox Plate three-peat on Oct. 28.

Starting a prohibitive 0.18-1 favorite, Winx settled midfield in the 2,040-meter (about 1 1/4-mile) championship at Moonee Valley in Melbourne, and got to the front easily enough with about a quarter-mile to run.

But she then had an unexpected challenge from Group 1 winner Humidor, who had been more than seven lengths behind her in the Group 1 Seppelt Turnbull Stakes three weeks ago.

Enable Third in Longines Racehorse Rankings, Arrogate Remains on Top

As a result of her dominant performance in the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, Enable (128 rating) has moved into the third spot in the LONGINES World’s Best Racehorse Rankings for 2017. Dubai World Cup winner Arrogate remains in the No. 1 position with a 134 rating, with Australian mare Winx in second at 132.
