The opportunity to win $5 million with no strings attached isn’t one that presents itself often – so, listen up!

Our friends at 1/ST RACING just launched a free-to-enter contest where all you need to do right now is click here and submit your predicted order of finish for Saturday’s Preakness Stakes. It’s the first in a series of three races known as the 1/ST GRAND 3 that also offers $5 million to the connections of any horse that wins the Preakness Stakes, the California Crown this fall, and the Pegasus World Cup Invitational next January.

We got all the info from 1/ST RACING’S Peter Rotondo about how you can land that $5 million or the not-too-shabby $100,000 consolation prize.

ABR: We've heard that there's not only $7.5 million in bonuses for any horse who wins the three dirt races ($5 million) and any horse that wins all three turf races ($2.5 million) linked together in the 1/ST GRAND 3, but also a $5 million prize for racing fans. Give us all the details!

Rotondo: Yes, we unveiled the 1/ST GRAND 3 Pick ‘Em Challenge in March. It’s free to play and there’s $5 million on the line for anyone who can pick the superfecta (the top four finishers in order) in the Preakness Stakes, California Crown and Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes.

ABR: What if no one correctly selects the top four finishers in the Preakness Stakes, California Crown and Pegasus World Cup?

Rotondo: That’s the beauty of this contest, if no one picks the superfecta in all three races, the entry that does the best (there’s a points system) will win $100,000. Let me repeat – no matter what happens in contests – the entry that does the best will win $100,000. No silly merch bags or tickets – $100 grand is the second or consolation prize!

ABR: When and how can anyone reading this enter the contest?

Rotondo: Go to this page today and enter. It’s a couple of clicks – and you’re playing the game.

ABR: Let's talk a little more about the 1/ST GRAND 3. Where did the idea come from?

Rotondo: The 1/ST GRAND 3 was sort of a natural next step to link the three marquee races that 1/ST owns – the Preakness Stakes, the California Crown, and the Pegasus World Cup. The California Crown is a brand new event that will launch Sept. 28, 2024 at Santa Anita Park. I like to tell people, think about a Pegasus World Cup vibe but beneath the San Gabriel Mountains at The Great Race Place! The 1/ST team wanted to really get horsemen and fans thinking and learning more about our new California Crown, so what better way than linking two marquee race days into it.

ABR: There are also other bonuses connected to some of the other races on Preakness weekend, correct?

Rotondo: Yes, there’s a $2.5 million owner bonus linking the Dinner Party Stakes, California Crown John Henry Turf Stakes and Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational Stakes.

Plus, 1/ST has been expanding its global racing partnerships. It started with Royal Ascot last year, when 1/ST linked two juvenile races with the Royal meeting, and right out of the gate there was success as Crimson Advocate won the Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies  at Gulfstream Park and the Queen Mary Stakes at Ascot!

This Saturday, the winner of the Jim McKay Turf Sprint Stakes at Pimlico will receive free entry and a travel incentive to run in The July Cup Stakes at Newmarket on July 13, 2024. In addition, the winner of the Gallorette Stakes will be automatically qualified to run in Sumbe Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville on Aug. 18, 2024. The Gallorette winner will receive an automatic entry into the Prix Jean Romanet in addition to $25,000 equine travel stipend.

ABR: Where can people go to learn more about the 1/ST Grand 3 series?

Rotondo: You can visit www.1st.com/grand3 for more details.
