America’s Best Racing assembles a yearly slideshow of the talented 3-year-olds lined up to compete in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve. This year's race on May 6 at Churchill Downs features a deep group of gifted individuals and, outside of champion and probable favorite Forte, the race looks wide open.

For most of the contenders targeting the first jewel of the Triple Crown, we were able to find a nice mix of photos to show fans their competitive side as well as a little bit about their personality. The contenders appear in order by points earned within the Road to the Kentucky scoring system that determines the 20-horse field for the 1 1/4-mile classic.

PLEASE NOTE: A flurry of late scratches including champion Forte, Runhappy Santa Anita Derby winner Practical Move and third-place finisher Skinner, Wood Memorial Stakes Presented by Resorts World Casino winner Lord Miles, and UAE Derby Sponsored by Atlantis the Royal third-place finisher Continuar dramatically changed the complexion of the Derby field in the last 72 hours before the race.
