The collective gaze of the sport of Thoroughbred racing will fall upon South Florida Saturday as Gulfstream Park hosts the first marquee race of the 2023: the $3 million, Grade 1 Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes Presented by Baccarat. The Pegasus has been one of the most important races on the calendar since it launched in 2017 and Arrogate defeated beloved fan favorite and reigning Horse of the Year California Chome, among others, in the inaugural edition.

While the 2023 edition lacks a true standout, this year's Pegasus brought together an evenly matched cast to compete at 1 1/8 miles on Gulfstream’s main dirt track.

America’s Best Racing has put together a comprehensive slideshow of the horses entered in the main body of this year’s Pegasus to give racing fans a feel for each of the contenders. For most of the horses on target for the race, we were able to find at least one nice close-up image, workout photo, and racing photo to bring readers closer to the Pegasus runners.
