America’s Best Racing puts together a yearly slideshow of the 3-year-olds expected to compete in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve. This year's race on May 7 at Churchill Downs became more intriguing as the race drew closer as several of the final prep races were won in eye-catching fashion.

For most of the contenders targeting the first jewel of the Triple Crown, we were able to find a nice mix of photos to show fans their competitive side as well as a little bit about their personality. The contenders appear in order by points earned within the Road to the Kentucky scoring system that determines the 20-horse field for the 1 1/4-mile classic.
