all in Breeders' Cup

The fourth running of the $20 million Saudi Cup Feb. 25 at King Abdulaziz Racecourse features a rematch of the first two finishers from 2022 plus a potent sextet from Japan and a few wild card possibilities.

A celebration of the undefeated Flightline awaits when racing’s best horses and human participants of 2022 are honored at a sold-out Eclipse Awards dinner Jan. 26 at the Breakers in Palm Beach, Fla.

Undefeated Flightline captivated not only a United States horse racing audience but also the global racing fanbase as evidenced by Queen Elizabeth II’s to call one of his owners, Lane’s End’s Bill Farish, the day after he won the TVG Pacific Classic Stakes by 19 ¼ lengths.

Few horses have been able to blend the kind of success that Unbridled enjoyed both on the racetrack and in the breeding shed.

A strapping, 17-hand colt with a long, ground-gobbling stride, he was slow to develop at 2 after a promising 10 ½-length victory in his career debut. The son of Fappiano was then plagued by a sore hoof at 4, succinctly explaining why he won just eight of 24 career starts.

If you walk around the host venue for any Breeders’ Cup, you will see a collection of purple hats adorning a lucky few. These hats featuring the Breeders’ Cup logo and a horse’s name are distributed to the connections, with everyone from the groom to the owner getting one to commemorate their participation in that year’s event. These are coveted collectibles which also have become a fundraising driver for After the Finish Line.
