The 3-year-olds showed up their older peers in the Grade 1 FanDuel Racing Pacific Classic Sept. 2 at Del Mar, as Arabian Knight held off Geaux Rocket Ride in a thriller that spoke to the quality of both 3-year-olds.

The Sept. 2 Flower Bowl Stakes at Saratoga Race Course will go in the books as a 1 3/8-mile turf race, but those who watched it, or examined the race’s fractions, know it was more like a three-furlong sprint that followed a one-mile warm-up.

For the seventh year in a row, America’s Best Racing is challenging some of the brightest minds in horse betting to come up with their top three picks for key races every weekend leading up to the 2023 Triple Crown and then continuing through the 2023 Breeders’ Cup World Championships. The handicappers face off in what we like to call the “Big Race Showdown.”

The third and final “Win and You’re In” berth for the Breeders’ Cup will be awarded in the final race of Saturday’s intriguing FanDuel Racing Pacific Classic card at Del Mar.

The Grade 1, $1 million FanDuel Racing Pacific Classic Stakes, a Breeders’ Cup Challenge “Win and You’re In” race for the Longines’ Breeders’ Cup Classic, drew a large field of 11.
