Peacock Racing Stables, LLC

Peacock Racing Stables is comprised of Spaniard Jaime Diaz Mengotti and Venezuelans Solomon Del-Valle (pictured in the profile) and Guillermo Guerra. They own leading 2017 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands contender Gunnevera.

Gunnevera, trained by Venezuela native Antonio Sano, won the Saratoga Special Stakes and the $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot Stakes as a 2-year-old and scored an impressive win in the Xpressbet Fountain of Youth Stakes in the second start of his 3-year-old campaign to vault to a leading position on the Kentucky Derby points leaderboard. Gunnevera finished third in the Florida Derby in his final prep for the 2017 Kentucky Derby.

Guerra and Diaz Mengotti work together in the import-export company Peacock Trading, hence the stable name Peacock Racing Stables.

Guerra only moved to the U.S. from Venezuela in 2014 and never owned a horse prior to Gunnevera. His father-in-law, Del-Valle, at one time had more than 50 horses in training in Venezuela, where he still lives.
