Kevin and Kim Nish founded KMN Racing in 2011. Located in Northern California, KMN Racing primarily races in California.
Kevin is a longtime horse-racing fan. In his youth, he almost quit UCLA to become a full-time horseplayer. Kim spent two years of college in the Midwest at a “horse school” before returning home to Southern California.

Kevin is a longtime horse-racing fan. In his youth, he almost quit UCLA to become a full-time horseplayer. Kim spent two years of college in the Midwest at a “horse school” before returning home to Southern California.
In October 2011, Kevin decided that he had reached a spot in life where he could consider owning a racehorse. His research led him to Victory Rose Thoroughbreds and he went out to meet the owner, Ellen Jackson. They hit it off and Jackson introduced the Nishes to Jason Litt of Solis/Litt Bloodstock.
The couple started out with partnership horses with Ellen, mostly just dabbling, but in December 2011, Litt called the couple to tell them about a percentage package of six horses that a client was selling and extended an offer to buy. One of those horses was Mizdirection, who went on to win back-to-back edition of the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint before she was sold at auction.
Within a week of selling Mizdirection, the Nishes were watching a race and noticed a familiar set of silks. After a call to Solis/Litt Bloodstock, the timing was right and the couple once again joined Jim Rome’s Jungle Racing on a gelding named Shared Belief, who would go on to win an Eclipse Award as establish himself as one of the best horses in training.
The Nishes also own several other horses in partnership with Alex Solis II and/or Jason Litt, who have handled the couple’s bloodstock purchases since that first package.
KMN Racing won the Blue Norther Stakes on Jan. 1 at Santa Anita with Lutine Belle, a victory that holds special meaning as it was Hall of Fame rider Alex Solis’s 5,000th career win as well as KMN Racing’s first stakes victory with a horse the couple owned in its entirety. KMN Racing earned its second stakes win in the Marshua Stakes on Jan. 29 at Laurel Park with a filly named Lindisfarne.
KMN Racing owns about 14 broodmares and breeds primarily California-breds, with a couple of broodmares in Kentucky,
