Rob and Stacy Mitchell own 90-acre Briland Farm in Lexington, Ky., and started a breeding operation in the early 2000s, purchasing their very first broodmare for $1. They enjoyed success with several homebreds in the succeeding years, including the mare Absinthe Minded, who earned over $600,000 on the track from 2009-12 and won three stakes races at Oaklawn Park.

In 2022, the Mitchells enjoyed a ride to the pinnacle of the sport with Secret Oath, a homebred Arrogate filly and Absinthe Minded’s fourth foal. The D. Wayne Lukas trainee won two stakes races at Oaklawn in early 2022 and ran third against males in the Arkansas Derby. In her next start, she won the Longines Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs. Secret Oath is the first graded stakes winner for Briland Farm.
