William H. "Jinks" Fires has won more than 1,400 races during a career that started in 1966. He trained 11-time stakes woinner Nopey Dopey and won a couple of graded stakes with a talented runner named Sportsgone, but Fires career-defining win came with Archarcharch in the 2011 Arkansas Derby, which gave him his first career Grade 1 win as well as his first Kentucky Derby starter at the age of 70.
Jinks Fires is the brother of Racing Hall of Fame jockey Earlie Fires. His son-in-law is jockey Jon Court.
