Cannoneer won his maiden race as a 2-year-old in a 7 1/4-length romp in his second lifetime outing going seven furlongs at Churchill Downs on Nov. 29, 2025. His next start was his 3-year-old debut in the Grade 3 $267,500 Holy Bull Stakes going 1 1/16 miles at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 31, 2026. Sent off as the 3-2 odds favorite in a six-horse field in the Holy Bull, Cannoneer contested the pace and got KO'd back to fourth, beaten 9 3/4 lengths.
