Further Ado began his career as a 2-year-old on July 26, 2025, with a fifth-place debut in a six-furlong maiden race at Saratoga, but he wasted little time after that getting his first career victory in his third lifetime start when stretched out to a route distance for the first time. Further Ado's maiden win on Oct. 10 turned a few heads and dropped a few jaws, indeed, as he romped to a 20-length victory going 1 1/16 miles at Keeneland for trainer Brad Cox.
Further Ado began his career as a 2-year-old on July 26, 2025, with a fifth-place debut in a six-furlong maiden race at Saratoga, but he wasted little time after that getting his first career victory in his third lifetime start when stretched out to a route distance for the first time. Further Ado's maiden win on Oct. 10 turned a few heads and dropped a few jaws, indeed, as he romped to a 20-length victory going 1 1/16 miles at Keeneland for trainer Brad Cox.
After winning his maiden race by 20 lengths at Keeneland, Further Ado was sent out against stakes company for the first time in his next start, which came in the Grade 2 $400,000 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes at Churchill Downs on Nov. 29. Sent off as the 0.71-1 favorite atop a seven-horse field in the Kentucky Jockey Club, Further Ado proved up to the task with a professional stalking trip enroute to a 1 3/4-length victory under jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. The final time was 1:43.33 on a fast track.
Following a three-month break, Further Ado returned to make his 3-year-old seasonal debut on March 7, 2026, in the Grade 3 $400,000 Esmark Tampa Bay Derby going 1 1/16 miles in a nine-horse field at Tampa Bay Downs. Sent off as the 2-1 second choice on the tote board in the Tampa Bay Derby, Further Ado stalked and pressed a solid pace and engaged in a three-horse battle through deep stretch and won a battle for second when beaten three-quarters of a length by The Puma for the win. The Tampa Bay Derby was a points race on the road to the Kentucky Derby, and with his runner-up finish, Further Ado collected 25 qualifying points for a total of 35 along with the 10 points he earned as a 2-year-old with his win in the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes.
Back at Keeneland — the site of his runaway maiden win — for the $1.25 million Toyota Blue Grass Stakes April 4, Further Ado cemented his credentials as a top contender for the 2026 Kentucky Derby with an 11-length runaway victory under Irad Ortiz Jr.
Further Ado was bred in Kentucky by the sire Gun Runner out of the mare Sky Dreamer by Sky Mesa.
