Asbury Park (GB)

Asbury Park was unplaced in his lone start as a 2-year-old in August 2024 at Saratoga Race Course, closing from far off the pace in a 1 1/16-mile turf race for trainer Chad Brown but coming up two lengths short.

The dark bay or brown colt by Frankel returned to action 9 ½ months later at Saratoga and closed from ninth of 12 to win a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight race by 3 ½ lengths June 6, 2025, as the favorite for owners Peter Brant and St. Elias Stable.

Two starts later, Asbury Park made his stakes debut in the Saranac Stakes Sept. 1 at Saratoga and rallied from last of eight to finish third.

Brown next tested Asbury Park in the Grade 2 Jockey Club Derby Invitational Stakes at 1 3/8 miles and he proved up to the class and distance tests, powering to the front in early stretch and pulling clear to a two-length victory under Manny Franco.

Asbury Park, named for the New Jersey beach community, was produced by the stakes-winning Street Cry mare Limonar, who has produced four stakes winners including group stakes winner Spanish Mission.
