Intricate Spirit

Intricate Spirit rolled to an impressive 3 ½-length victory in his career debut racing 5 ½ furlongs on turf at Saratoga Aug. 1, 2025. He was 4-1 in that race, but was bet down to odds-on favoritism at 0.97-1 odds in his next start going 6 ½ furlongs at Kentucky Downs Aug. 28. The Complexity colt set a pressured pace in that start and finished a good second by three-quarters of a length to subsequent stakes winner Street Beast.

Trainer Miguel Clement then entered Intricate Spirit in the $175,000, Grade 3 Futurity Stakes Oct. 3 at Belmont at the Big A. The six-furlong turf dash was a “Win and You’re In” Challenge Series qualifier for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint Oct. 31, and under regular rider Joel Rosario, Intricate Spirit gained a fees-paid entry to that Breeders’ Cup race with a game 1 ¾-length win over Longshoreman.

Kentucky-bred Intricate Spirit is out of the winning Curlin mare Dottie’s Spirit and is a half-brother to stakes winner and graded stakes-placed Spirit Prince.
