In the only Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series race held last weekend, She Feels Pretty delivered as the 0.45-1 favorite in the E. P. Taylor Stakes at Woodbine, holding off Diamond Rain by a head. Lael Stables’ Karakontie filly won her sixth career graded stakes race in the E. P. Taylor, a “Win and You’re In” qualifier for the Maker’s Mark Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf. She earned a career-best 115 Equibase Speed Figure as well. With $1,082,275 in 2025 earnings, She Feels Pretty now ranks 10th overall among all racehorses in North American for the year, and second in the older female division behind Thorpedo Anna.

D. J. Stable’s homebred Nitrogen delivered a powerhouse performance on Saturday to capture the Alabama Stakes Presented by Keeneland Sales at Saratoga Race Course by 1 ½ lengths over 7-5 favorite Good Cheer. The Medaglia d’Oro filly began her 3-year-old campaign on turf and won four straight stakes races on that surface. Then in June, Nitrogen tried dirt for the first time in the Wonder Again Stakes (moved off the turf) and dominated by 17 lengths. After a narrow nose defeat in the Belmont Oaks Invitational Stakes, the filly returned to dirt in the Alabama and again proved best. With six wins and a runner-up finish from seven starts this year, Nitrogen now leads the 3-year-old filly division and sits fourth overall among North America-based racehorses with $1,439,400 in earnings.

Irad Ortiz Jr. topped the North American jockey colony by earnings last week with $840,10. Ortiz Jr. became the second jockey this year to surpass $20 million in earnings this year and remains ranked second to Flavien Prat in the standings for the ninth consecutive week.

Mark Casse, trainer of Nitrogen, advanced to third in the Equibase trainer standings after posting seven victories and $794,735 in earnings last week. His 2025 earnings now total over $14.9 million, edging Chad Brown’s $14.7 million-plus for to place him in the third spot behind Brad Cox and Steve Asmussen among trainers in North America. While Brown has been more efficient with fewer starters, Casse has leaned on volume, nearly doubling Brown’s number of runners this year.

North American leaders lists for horses, jockeys, trainers and owners are available on equibase.com and you can filter the data to view by a wide variety of categories including age, sex, surface and race type.
