Desert Gate won his 2-year-old career debut on June 13, 2025, at Santa Anita. He looked good and went right up against stakes company for his second start which came in the Grade 3 $150,000 Best Pal Stakes going six furlongs at Del Mar on Aug. 9. Sent out as the 1-5 favorite in a five-horse field in the Best Pal, Desert Gate dueled for the lead, disposed of the challenger, and dominated through the stretch while extending his winning margin to 8 3/4 lengths at the finish.

Desert Gate is trained by Bob Baffert. He was bred in Kentucky by the sire Omaha Beach out of the mare Theogony by Curlin.
