Christopher Elliott grew up immersed in horse racing thanks to his father Stewart, a veteran jockey who has won over 5,800 races in his career and is best known as the rider of 2004 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner Smarty Jones. Christopher began to develop his own interest in the sport during his preteen years while Stewart was riding at Del Mar and, a few years later, he gained his first experience as an exercise rider for trainer Sarah Davidson at Remington Park.

Elliott began his career with a first-race victory on April 21, 2024, when guiding Ru Mor Starter to a win at Lone Star Park. That summer, he moved to the East Coast and primarily rode at Monmouth Park until its meet ended, and then at Aqueduct and Parx Racing through the winter and into spring 2025.
The young jockey finished the winter Aqueduct meet ranked eighth in wins and stayed in New York to ride at the prestigious Saratoga meet as his apprenticeship ended during summer 2025.
