Kilwin

Kilwin won her career debut at first asking as a 2-year-old with a win going 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf at Ellis Park on July 27, 2024. She followed with another win in her second start in the $998,000 Untappable Stakes going 6 1/2 furlongs at Kentucky Downs on Sept. 8. That victory led to a start in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf, where Kilwin finished fifth to round out her juvenile campaign.

Kilwin returned for her 3-year-old season in 2025 and found even greater success on the dirt than she had enjoyed as a 2-year-old on the turf. Kilwin was switched to the dirt for the first time for the $175,000 Leslie's Lady Stakes on June 8, 2025, at Churchill Downs and came away with 1 1 1/4-length win over a field of six fillies going seven furlongs.

Buoyed by her success in her first-ever dirt race, Kilwin next was sent to Saratoga to compete at the Grade 1 level in the prestigious $500,000 Test Stakes presented by Ticketmaster going seven furlongs on Aug. 2. Sent off at 6.20-1 odds in an eight-horse field in the Test, Kilwin got off to a disastrous start in the race as she stumbled badly in the opening strides and dropped far back to last. It looked hopeless until Kilwin and jockey Jose Ortiz began passing horse after swinging five wide into the stretch. She continued her rally throughout the stretch run and got up in time to win the race by a neck over fellow closer Ragtime.

Kilwin is trained by Rusty Arnold. She was bred in Kentucky by the sire Twirling Candy out of the mare Spanish Star by Blame.
