Big City Lights

Big City Lights began his career with style with two wins in two starts as a 2-year-old in 2021, first with the maiden win on May 2 at Santa Anita and then a win in the Fasig-Tipton Stakes back at Santa Anita on June 20. After that, Big City Lights missed more than a year but picked up right where he left off with his third win in three career starts with a victory in the Real Good Deal Stakes on Aug. 5, 2022 at Del Mar. In just four more starts throughout the rest of 2022 and the year 2023, Big City Lights finished second in all four outings.

Big City Lights began his 5-year-old campaign in 2024 in fine fashion with an allowance optional claiming win at Santa Anita on Jan. 6. He followed that up with the first graded stakes win of his career which came in the Grade 3 $100,000 Palos Verdes Stakes on Feb. 10 at Santa Anita. In the six-furlong Palos Verdes, Big City Lights was sent off as the 2-5 favorite on the tote board in a five-horse field and won by a nose.

Big City Lights is trained by Richard Mandella. He was bred in California by the sire Mr. Big out of the mare Champaign Exchange by Exchange Rate.
