Taking Candy won his maiden race as a 3-year-old in his second career start going 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Churchill Downs on May 21, 2023. He added another win that summer at Saratoga in a 1 1/16-mile allowance optional claiming race on July 22.
Taking Candy ran only three times in an abbreviated 4-year-old campaign in 2024, earning an allowance optional claiming win on the grass at Saratoga and then finishing second in the $150,000 Bernard Baruch Stakes on Sept. 1.
