With The Moonlight (IRE)

With the Moonlight, a Frankel filly bred in Ireland by owner Godolphin, won three of six starts racing in England before shipping to North America in summer 2022, including a listed stakes at Newbury.

Trainer Charles Appleby pointed her to the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks Invitational Stakes for her U.S. debut on July 9, and she finished a good second behind McKulick after leading in early stretch.

Appleby then pointed With the Moonlight to the Grade 1 Saratoga Oaks Invitational Stakes on August 6, and this time the filly seized command in early stretch and was not threatened late by runner-up McKulick, winning winning by 1 ¾ lengths under William Buick. With the Moonlight wheeled right back two weeks later to attempt a Saratoga double in the Grade 2 Lake Placid Stakes on August 20, but had to settle for a closing second that day under jockey Luis Saez, beatenthree-quarters of a length by wire-to-wire winner, Haughty.

With the Moonlight won a pair of Group 2 stakes in Dubai at Meydan Race Course over the winter in her first two starts as a 4-year-old and then returned to the United States for the Grade 1 Jenny Wiley Stakes at Keeneland, where she was second to front-running winner In Italian.

Shipped back to England, With The Moonlight was unplaced on soft ground in a Group 2 race and then shipped back to North America for the $750,000 E. P. Taylor Stakes on Oct. 8 at Woodbine. She launched a bid to challenge front-running Fev Rover but could not get past the determined winner and settled for second on turf rated as good.

With the Moonlight is out of the Group 2-winning Dubawi mare Sand Vixen and is a full sister to Dream Castle, a multiple stakes winner in Dubai.
