Abaan won two stakes races in his first two starts of the 2021-22 championship meet at Gulfstream Park. On Dec. 24, he went gate-to-wire to win the two-mile H. Allen Jerkens Stakes by 4 1/2 lengths. A few weeks later, he was once again impressive in victory, as he took the Grade 3 W.L. McKnight Stakes by two lengths on Jan. 29.
