The Belmont Stakes has a rich history dating back to its inception in 1867, which means there is no shortage of interesting numbers associated with the race that is often called the “Test of the Champion.”
Saratoga Springs, N.Y., plays host to thousands and thousands of racing fans every summer and many of those come back again and again every year for the annual summer race meet at Saratoga Race Course. The entire city of Saratoga Springs centers around horse racing when the traditional meet is held, and racing nostalgia and history can be found everywhere you look. The racetrack is only part of the Saratoga experience, and a day at the races is only the beginning of a typical visit.
The upcoming weekend in North American horse racing is but a momentary dip between two high-cresting waves – Memorial Day weekend in the past, and a spectacular five days of racing at Saratoga Race Course topped by the Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets in the very near future.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 28, 2025) – The Breeders’ Cup, one of Thoroughbred racing’s most prestigious international festivals, has named Keeneland Race Course in Lexington and Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y., as respective host sites for the 2026 and 2027 Breeders’ Cup World Championships.
