Jay Privman has been a regular presence in print, on TV, and online in the horse racing world for over 35 years, the last 20 as the Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup correspondent for Daily Racing Form. Privman, who is also a reporter on NBC Sports’ horse racing telecasts, recently gave a few minutes to share his opinions on the sport and some of his other interests.

Does age matter?

I’m the first whiskey writer to complain when a bourbon drops an age statement. Just ask Heaven Hill, Jim Beam, Buffalo Trace, and others who endured my public and private whining. Once, while waiting in line at the Louisville airport, I told a distillery executive that they didn’t need to discontinue age statements if they stopped making flavored whiskey, my other favorite thing to hate in American whiskey.

The Man O’ War Project at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is the first-ever clinical research study to determine the effectiveness of equine-assisted therapy and establish guidelines for the treatment of military veterans who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
