Horse racing carries major momentum going into the 151st running of the Preakness Stakes Saturday, May 16 at Laurel Park, even with the announcement that Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve winner Golden Tempo would bypass the race and point to the Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets June 6.

This year’s Preakness shapes up as a wide-open betting race with several intriguing storylines led by locally based horse Taj Mahal and his connections, the wife-husband team of Brittany Russell (trainer) and Sheldon Russell (jockey). As it did on Kentucky Derby weekend, NBC Sports will provide extensive coverage leading up to the Preakness Saturday evening, and that starts Friday with an hour-and-a-half show from 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN and streaming on Peacock highlighted by the George E. Mitchell Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Laurel for 3-year-old fillies.

On Saturday, the coverage begins on NBCSN/Peacock from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. ET before moving to NBC and Peacock from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. ET for 6 ½ total hours live Saturday from Laurel. Post time for the Preakness is set for 7:01 p.m. ET.

FanDuel TV will also show some live races from Laurel Park Friday and Saturday as part of their daily package, but the Preakness Stakes will be shown exclusively on NBC and streamed on Peacock. FanDuel TV’s coverage for the week ahead also includes action from Churchill Downs, Santa Anita Park, Gulfstream Park, and Woodbine among other venues.

NYRA’s “America’s Day at the Races” has shows from Thursday, May 14, through Sunday, May 17, this week with live racing from Aqueduct (conducted as Belmont at the Big A) as well as select races from Monmouth Park, Laurel Park, and Horseshoe Indianapolis – plus a special program Saturday evening covering harness racing from The Meadowlands. The shows air on FOX Sports with several viewing blocs available only on NYRA’s YouTube channel – check the below schedule for TV channels and times.

Horse racing from tracks around the world is available to subscribers on Racetrack Television Network (RTN), which can be livestreamed on all devices (computer, tablet and smartphone) and on TV via DISH Network, Amazon Fire and Roku.
