One of the most anticipated weeks of the annual horse racing calendar is upon us, as fans and horseplayers celebrate the start of Saratoga Race Course’s traditional summer meet on Thursday, July 11. The historic upstate New York track opened for a special four-day meet back in early June as it hosted the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival while Belmont Park continued its reconstruction project, and that just created an even more intense sense of longing for the kickoff of “the Spa’s” summer season.

The opening four-day span at Saratoga features seven stakes races, highlighted by the $500,000, Grade 1 Diana Saturday, July 13. Two-year-olds will also take the spotlight in two stakes races – the $175,000 Schuylerville for fillies on opening Thursday, and the $175,000, Grade 3 Sanford on Saturday.

NYRA’s popular “Saratoga Live” show begins Thursday and will offer comprehensive, exclusive coverage of Saratoga’s meet from opening day to the finale on Labor Day, Sept. 2. “Saratoga Live” will also broadcast select stakes races from Monmouth Park during its 7 ½-week season. The show is presented on FOX Sports via various channels, including six straight weeks of national coverage on FOX starting Saturday, July 20. Check the below schedule for this week’s channels and air times, including a broadcast of harness racing’s Meadowlands Pace Saturday evening.

Another popular track also begins its summer meet on Thursday with a focus on high-quality turf racing. Colonial Downs in Virginia will run through Saturday, Sept. 7 and its races will be broadcast on FanDuel TV along with many other tracks including Ellis Park, Gulfstream Park, and Woodbine as part of that network’s daily package.

Horse racing from tracks around the world is available to subscribers on Racetrack Television Network (RTN), which can be livestreamed on all devices (computer, tablet and smartphone) and on TV via DISH Network, Amazon Fire and Roku.
