The most exciting week of every year in horse racing is upon us, and all eyes are laser-focused on Churchill Downs as 3-year-old Thoroughbreds prepare to run in the 149th Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve on Saturday, May 6. The Kentucky Derby traditionally draws an audience that rivals major games/events in other sports aside from the Super Bowl, and this year national television coverage of the historic race and the spectacle surrounding it is expanded significantly.

NBC Sports will provide a record 7 ½ hours of coverage on Kentucky Derby day in a nationwide broadcast from noon to 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC that will also include live racing on the Derby undercard at Churchill, betting analysis, onsite coverage of fashion and celebrites, and features from NBC’s award-winning team led by host Mike Tirico and analysts Randy Moss and Jerry Bailey. Saturday’s broadcast will feature nine live races total. Features include a visit with Forte’s co-owner Mike Repole, a profile on Derby-winning trainer and Louisville native Brad Cox, and an update on inspirational Breeders’ Cup winner Cody’s Wish and the Dorman family.

Post time for Derby 149 is 6:57 p.m. The broadcast will also be available online at NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app and streamed on Peacock.

In addition to the Kentucky Derby broadcast on NBC, for the first time the race will be shown on Telemundo Deportes, airing during a show starting at 6:30 p.m. ET on Universo. The en Español coverage will also be available on TelemundoDeportes.com and the Telemundo app.

On Friday, May 5, 3-year-old fillies take center stage at Churchill in the 149th Longines Kentucky Oaks. Once again, NBC Sports will provide coverage in a live broadcast on USA Network, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET. The Oaks, other races from Churchill, plus a Derby preview and features will also be available at NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app and streamed on Peacock. Post time for the Kentucky Oaks is 5:51 p.m. ET.

The draw for both the 149th Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks is set for Monday, May 1, at 2 p.m. ET and will air live on FanDuel TV as well as online at kentuckyderby.com and on the Kentucky Derby social media accounts.

FanDuel TV has already started its onsite coverage of Derby week at Churchill Downs and will air races earlier in the week from the track along with workout footage of Derby contenders and other features. As usual, FanDuel TV will show racing from other tracks around the country this week and international racing as well.

Live racing from Churchill Downs during Derby week is also available on NYRA’s “America’s Day at the Races,” which airs daily on FS2 from Tuesday, May 2, to Sunday, May 7. “America’s Day at the Races” also will showcase racing from Belmont Park, which begins its spring meet Thursday, May 4, as well as action from Oaklawn Park as that track wraps up its 2022-’23 meet on May 6. In addition to the daily broadcasts of live racing, “America’s Day at the Races” will also host a Kentucky Derby preview show on FS2 Friday, May 5 at 6 p.m. ET. Check the below schedule for daily air times.

Horse racing from tracks around the world is available to subscribers on Racetrack Television Network (RTN), which can be livestreamed on all devices (computer, tablet, and smartphone) and on TV via DISH Network, Amazon Fire, and Roku.

For livestreaming this week, be sure to tune into ABR’s “Kentucky Derby Preview LIVE!” presented by Twinspires.com on Tuesday, May 2 at 8 p.m. ET. Dan Tordjman and Ren Carothers will preview a spectacular week at Churchill Downs and offer their picks for the Derby and Oaks. They will also be joined by three sports media figures who are minority owners in Kentucky Derby contender Jace’s Road through ABR’s “A Stake in Stardom” program: NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Fox Sports reporter Lindsay Czarniak, and Fox Sports host Joy Taylor. “Kentucky Derby Preview LIVE!” is available on ABR’s Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube channels.

ABR’s “La Trifecta” returns with a Kentucky Derby preview show Thursday, May 4, at 9 p.m. ET on ABR’s Instagram channel. Presented en Español, the show is hosted by Darwin Vizcaya, Claudia Spadaro, and Annise Montplaisir. “La Trifecta” is sponsored by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association and the Florida Department of Agriculture.

Lastly, livestreaming of Kentucky Derby workouts is available every day on Twinspires’ morning works show through “Thurby,” Thursday, May 4. The show streams on KentuckyDerby.com/works and on Kentucky Derby social media channels from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. daily.
