Where to Watch/Listen: Whitney Stakes Week 2021

After a weekend where two horses earned automatic berths to the 38th Breeders’ Cup World Championships with wins at Del Mar in southern California, the focus shifts across the country to Saratoga Race Course for the upcoming weekend, as some of the top older dirt males in training compete in the 94th edition of the prestigious Whitney Stakes on Saturday, Aug. 7

The $1 million, Grade 1 Whitney Stakes offers a “Win and You’re In” berth to the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic Nov. 6 at Del Mar by way of the Challenge Series Presented by America's Best Racing. For more on the race’s storied history and its impact on the World Championships, click here.

The Whitney, along with other races from Saratoga including the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Stakes Friday and the Saratoga Derby Invitational on Saturday, will be broadcast live on the NYRA-produced show Saratoga Live.” The show, produced on-site at the Spa, airs on either FS2 or FS1 during the week ahead from Wednesday to Sunday – check the below schedule for air times. 

In addition to the NYRA coverage, racing from Del Mar and other tracks will be broadcast live on TVG as part of their daily comprehensive package.

To headline livestream coverage for the upcoming week, America’s Best Racing will present “Breeders’ Cup Live!: The Whitney.” The ultimate second-screen experience airing Saturday, Aug. 7 at 5 p.m. ET will be hosted by Dan Tordjman and Bram Weinstein and feature appearances by guests including Stacie Clark Rogers from Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance and Annie Montplaisir from Amplify Racing“Breeders’ Cup Live!: The Whitney” is available to view on ABR's Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channels and also on Breeders’ Cup’s Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube channels.

The livestream schedule starts this week on Tuesday evening with a special Q&A show called “Ask Me Anything: Declan Carroll.” The show, hosted by ABR’s Isabella Leslie, will allow viewers to ask Declan Carroll about the demands and rewards of being a Thoroughbred jockey. Carroll is based at Arlington International Racecourse and is one of the leading young riders in North America. “Ask Me Anything: Declan Carroll” airs at 6 p.m. ET Tuesday, Aug. 3 on ABR’s Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube channels.

One of ABR’s popular shows from years past makes its 2021 debut this week. “Five in Five” is set to re-boot on Wednesday, Aug. 4 at noon ET. Hosted by ABR’s talented twosome of Dan Tordjman and Penelope Miller, “Five in Five” takes a fast-paced and funny look at anything and everything connected to the horse racing world, including the launch of ABR’s 2021 Fan Choice Awards. It can be viewed on ABR’s Facebook and Twitter channels.

This week also marks the return of “La Trifecta” with a new show airing Thursday, Aug. 5 at 8 p.m. ET. Presented en Espanol, the show is hosted by Darwin Vizcaya, Claudia Spadaro, and Annise Montplaisir. It airs on ABR’s Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube channels.

ABR's new “Saratoga Saturdays” live streaming show continues this Saturday, Aug. 6, at 9 a.m. ET. The morning show, hosted by Jonathon Kinchen and Anita Marks, will delve deeply into all things Spa-specific and preview the major Saturday races. “Saratoga Saturdays” can be viewed on ABR’s Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube channels as well as Jonathon’s Twitter account and Anita’s Twitter account, and it will air every Saturday through Sept. 4.

ABR's “The Winner’s Circle” returns for its usual Monday timeslot of 11 a.m. ET with a show on Aug. 9. Presented by NYRA and NYRA Bets and hosted by Bram Weinstein and Dan Tordjman, “The Winner’s Circle” will wrap up Whitney weekend and look ahead to the next big events. “The Winner’s Circle” can be viewed on ABR’s Facebook and Twitter channels and Bram Weinstein’s Twitter channel. Archived episodes of “The Winner’s Circle” are available as podcasts via Apple and Spotify.
