After a Labor Day weekend that saw stars emerge in the 2-year-old divisions and two veteran horses earn “Win and You’re In” berths to the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, the focus of the racing world briefly shifts from storied venues in New York and California to hone in on a small rural track on the Kentucky-Tennessee state line that has risen in recent years to provide some of the most competitive and exciting racing in North America.

Kentucky Downs in Franklin, Ky., finishes up its six-day September meet presented by FanDuel with cards on Saturday, Sept. 11, and Sunday, Sept. 12, and the Saturday card will have Breeders’ Cup implications as two “Win and You’re In” stakes are scheduled. The Grade 2 Calumet Turf Cup offers an expenses paid berth in the Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf to the winner, while the Grade 3 FanDuel Turf Sprint is a qualifying race for the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint. Both Breeders’ Cup races are scheduled on the second day of the World Championships Nov. 6 at Del Mar.

The Calumet Turf Cup and the FanDuel Turf Sprint will be shown live on NBC during a one-hour show beginning at 5 p.m. ET. Post times are 5:09 p.m. ET for the Turf Sprint and 5:44 p.m. ET for the Turf Cup.

Kentucky Downs also carded three other graded stakes on Sept. 11, and races at the track through the entire meet ending Sunday will be broadcast live on TVG.

Also on Saturday, Leopardstown Racecourse in Ireland hosts three foreign “Win and You’re In” preps for the Breeders’ Cup: the Irish Champion Stakes (Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf); Coolmore America Justify Matron Stakes (Maker’s Mark Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf); and KPMG Champions Juvenile Stakes (Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf). These races will be showcased on a special broadcast airing on FS2 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. ET.
