Edgar Morales, a native of Puerto Rico, came to the U.S. as a teenager and started galloping horses for trainers in Louisiana during the 2010s, following his older brother, jockey Roberto Morales. Edgar soon moved to Kentucky and established himself in the region, riding his first winner at Keeneland in October 2017.

After finishing his time as an apprentice, Morales became a regular member of the jockey colonies at Churchill Downs, Horseshoe Indianapolis, Ellis Park, and other area tracks. He registered his first graded stakes win in September 2022 aboard Curly Jack in the Iroqouis Stakes at Churchill, and weeks after that picked up his second on Hoosier Philly in the Golden Rod Stakes at Churchill, both for trainer Tom Amoss.
