Three Technique emerged on the New York circuit during fall 2019 as a 2-year-old with two impressive wins that came after he finished second in the first two races of his career.
Coming off of a 4 ½-length score at Aqueduct in November, the Jeremiah Englehart-trained colt was placed on the Road to the 2020 Kentucky Derby and shipped to Oaklawn for the Jan. 24 Smarty Jones Stakes.
Three Technique emerged on the New York circuit during fall 2019 as a 2-year-old with two impressive wins that came after he finished second in the first two races of his career.
Coming off of a 4 ½-length score at Aqueduct in November, the Jeremiah Englehart-trained colt was placed on the Road to the 2020 Kentucky Derby and shipped to Oaklawn for the Jan. 24 Smarty Jones Stakes.
In his sophomore debut, Three Technique made up some ground on wire-to-wire winner Gold Street in the stretch but settled for second in the Smarty Jones. Three Technique returned for his next start as a 3-year-old in the Grade 2 Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn on March 14, where he finished a non-threatening fourth.
Later on in his career, Three Technique scored a restricted stakes win in the $159,000 Knicks Go Stakes going one mile at Churchill Downs on May 7, 2022. He tried again in that race in 2023 but settled for third in what was the second start of his 6-year-old season on May 6, 2023.
Three Technique got back into the winner's circle on May 27, 2023 when he won an allowance optional claiming race going a mile at Churchill Downs. He used that win as a springboard back in versus stakes company i his next start, which came in the Grade 2 $250,000 john A. Nerud Stakes going seven furlongs at Belmont Park on July 1. Sent off as the 5-1 third choice on the tote board in a field of seven in the seven-furlong Nerud, Three Technique sat back off a fast pace, got clear run on the outside in the stretch and powered past the field for a 3 3/4-length win.
Three Technique's next win came as a 7-year-old on Sept. 28, 2024 when he scored in the Grade 3 $400,000 Ack Ack Stakes at Churchill Downs. Sent off as the 5-1 third-choice on the tote board in a field of four horses in the Ack Ack, Three Technique rallied from last to first over a sloppy sealed racetrack to win by 1 1/2 lengths.
The Mr Speaker colt was owned by August Dawn Farm, who purchased him for $180,000 as a yearling. He was claimed for $40,000 by owner David Miller and trainer Jason Cook in November 2021.
