Storm's Wake tried various turf stakes assignments from late in her 2-year-old season through the first part of her 3-year-old campaign in 2026 until finally breaking through with a stakes win in the Grade 2 $500,000 Appalachian Stakes presented by Japan Racing Association going one mile on the turf at Keeneland on April 4. Sent off as a 21.68-1 longshot in a field of 10 in the Appalachian, Storm's Wake rallied from last to first and got up just in time at the wire to score the neck victory.
