Splendora

Splendora finished second in her December 2023 debut sprinting at Santa Anita Park, and did not return to the track until nearly 10 months later. She came back impressively, romping in a 6 ½-furlong race at Santa Anita on Oct. 20, 2024, and followed that up with two more strong efforts to close out her abbreviated 3-year-old season, winning a 6 ½-furlong allowance during Del Mar’s fall meet and then finishing second to Kopion in the Grade 1 La Brea Stakes.

The Audibile filly began her 4-year-old campaign with a fourth-place effort in the Grade 2 Santa Monica Stakes and followed that with a second to stablemate Richi in the Grade 2 Santa Maria Stakes. That race was held at  1 1/16 miles around two turns, and Splendora showed talent routing again in her third 2025 start when second behind another stablemate, Seismic Beauty, in Santa Anita’s Grade 2 Santa Margarita Stakes held at 1 1/8 miles.

The filly returned during Del Mar’s summer meet and reached top form to close out 2025, easily winning a six-furlong allowance and then romping in the one-mile Tranquility Lake Stakes. Trainer Bob Baffert gave Splendora a break through the Santa Anita fall meet and brought her back in the $1 million, Grade 1 PNC Bank Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint Nov. 1 at Del Mar. With Flavien Prat riding for the first time, Splendora stalked the early pace, angled out, and shot clear in the stretch for an impressive 4 ¾-length victory. The filly improved to 4-for-4 at Del Mar and gave owner Mike Talla his first Breeders’ Cup win.

Splendora was back for the start of her 5-year-old season on Feb. 7, 2026, in the Grade 2 $200,000 D. Wayne Lukas Stakes going seven furlongs at Santa Anita. Sent off as the 2-5 favorite in a field of six. Splendora picked up right where she left off in the Breeders' Cup with an easy 1 3/4-length victory to start her 2026 campaign on a winning note.

Splendora added another win to her ledger early in 2026 when she won the Grade 1 $300,000 B. Wayne Hughes Beholder Mile Stakes presented by FanDuel. Sent off as the 1-9 favorite in a five-horse field, Splendora went right to the front and led all the way for a 5 3/4-length victory March 7 at Santa Anita Park.

Talla and Rockingham Ranch bought Splendora for $125,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga selected yearling sale. The Maryland-bred filly is out of the winning Frost Giant mare Miss Freeze.
