So Happy

So Happy made his career debut as a 2-year-old in a Del Mar maiden race on Nov. 22, 2025, and won at first asking. He was next sent out against stakes company to make his 3-year-old debut in the Grade 2 $200,000 San Vicente Stakes going seven furlongs at Santa Anita on Jan. 10, 2026. Sent off as the 2.90-1 second choice on the tote board in a five-horse field in the San Vicente, So Happy stalked the pace under jockey Mike Smith and wore down the front-runner in the stretch to score a two-length victory ahead of heavily favored Buetane.

So Happy stretched out to two turns for the first time in her third lifetime start which came in the Grade 2 $200,000 Fan Felipe Stakes presented by DK Horse going 1 1/16 miles at Santa Anita on March 7. Sent off as the 2.10-1 second choice on the tote board in the San Felipe, So Happy pressed the pace set by favored Brant but got passed by Potente and Robusta in the stretch and settled for third. 

So Happy shook off the loss in the San Felipe and was back against a similar field next time out in the Grade 1 $500,000 Santa Anita Derby going 1 1/8 miles on April 4. So Happy was given a perfect ride by hall of fame jockey Mike Smith, sitting behind the contested pace set by Potente and Robusta before challenging in the stretch and drawing off to win by 2 3/4 lengths atop a seven-horse field. The victory awarded So Happy 100 qualifying points for a total of 115 on the Road to the Kentucky Derby.

So Happy is trained by Mark Glatt. He was bred in Kentucky by the sire Runhappy out of the dam So Cunning by Blame.
