Shedaresthedevil debuted in style June 13, 2019, at Churchill Downs, where the bay filly by Daredevil rallied to a 3 ¼-length victory. She subsequently was shipped west and finished third in the Grade 2 Sorrento Stakes. Two starts later, she closed out her 2-year-old season with a runner-up finish in the Anokia Stakes.

After finishing second in an allowance race at Oaklawn Park in her 3-year-old bow and first start for new trainer Brad Cox, Shedaresthedevil split horses and rallied to a three-quarter-length win in the Grade 3 Honeybee Stakes March 7 at the Hot Springs, Ark., track.

The filly followed up that win with a third-place finish to Swiss Skydiver in the Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn, and then shipped to Churchill Downs and scored an easy six-length win in an allowance optional claming race on June 5. She then jumped back into graded stakes company on July 8 in the Grade 3 Indiana Oaks, and took command at the top of the stretch to win the 1 1/16-mile race going away by five lengths as the odds-on favorite.

Shedaresthedevil followed with a career-defining victory in the Grade 1 Longines Kentucky Oaks, which in 2020 was rescheduled from May to Sept. 4, as she pressed heavily favored Gamine from second and then put away Alabama Stakes winner Swiss Skydiver in deep stretch to prevail at 15.10-1 odds. Shedaresthedevil closed out her 3-year-old season with a third-place finish in the Juddmonte Spinster Stakes Oct. 4 at Keeneland.

Shedaresthedevil returned from a layoff of more than five months to make her 4-year-old debut in the Grade 2 Azeri Stakes March 13 at Oaklawn Park. She zipped right to the front and then battled gamely in the closing stages to hold off Letruska for a hard-fought victory by a head. She improved to 2-for-2 as a 4-year-old with another game victory in the Grade 1 La Troienne Stakes Presented by TwinSpires.com April 30 at Churchill Downs, where she set a pressured pace and then turned aside Envoutante in the stretch before pulling away late.

Shedaresthedevil suffered her first defeat in her next start, finishing third in the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps Stakes at Belmont Park on June 5 behind Letruska and Bonny South. Brad Cox then shipped her to Del Mar in California for the Aug. 1 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes, a “Win and You’re In” qualifying race for the Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff. With regular rider Florent Geroux aboard, Shedaresthedevil stalked the pace set by Venetian Harbor and took command at the quarter pole to power clear and win by 3 ¼ lengths.

In her final prep for the Distaff, Shedaresthedevil won the Grade 3 Locust Grove Stakes at Churchill Downs on Sept. 18, fending off a challenge on her inside from Crystal Ball for the victory. Shedaresthedevil led briefly in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff but faded to finish sixth in the final start of her 4-year-old campaign.

Making her 5-year-old bow in the Grade 2 Azeri Stakes March 12 at Oaklawn Park, Shedaresthedevil set the pace before giving way grudgingly late and running third behind 2021 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint winner Ce Ce and Pauline’s Pearl. The Azeri runner-up got the better of her again in Shedaresthedevil’s next start as Pauline’s Pearl reeled her in nearing the finish line of the Grade La Troienne Stakes presented by Signify Health on the May 6 Longines Kentucky Oaks undercard at Churchill Downs.

Shedaresthedevil turned the tables in her next start, the Grade 2 Fleur de Lis Stakes at Churchill on July 2. She rated off early leader Super Quick, allowing her to set the early pace largely uncontested. In the stretch, she wore down Super Quick and pulled clear for the first stakes win of her 5-year-old season.

A half-sister to Grade 3-placed winner Mojovation, Shedaresthedevil is out of the winning Congrats mare Starship Warpspeed. She is owned by Flurry Racing Stables, Qatar Racing, and Whisper Hill Farm.
