Shared Sense

Shared Sense, a Godolphin homebred son of 2007 Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense, raced three times as a juvenile in 2019 and was elevated to first in his final start, a 1 1/16-mile race Nov. 30 at Churchill Downs, when the winner was later disqualified for a drug positive.

He finished sixth in the Smarty Jones Stakes at Oaklawn Park in his 3-year-old debut but bounced back to score in a Feb. 29 one-mile allowance optional claiming race. The Brad Cox trainee next tried a listed stakes on turf at Gulfstream Park, but after finishing sixth returned to dirt in a competitive 1 1/16-mile allowance optional claiming race at Churchill in June, where he finished second to Art Collector.

On July 8, Shared Sense scored his breakthrough graded stakes win in the Grade 3 Indiana Derby, powering clear from a stalking position to defeat Major Fed by three lengths. He earned 20 qualifying points for the Sept. 5 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve with the victory.

Shared Sense finished a disappointing fifth in the Aug. 9 Ellis Park Derby, another Kentucky Derby prep that was won by Art Collector. He skipped the rescheduled run for the roses but reached the winner’s circle in his comeback on Sept. 27, taking the Grade 3 Oklahoma Derby at Remington Park by two lengths over Mo Mosa.

Shared Sense won his first stakes as a 4-year-old at Ellis Park on Aug. 7, 2021, when he battled to victory in the Tri-State Overnight Stakes. 

Shared Sense is out of the unraced Bernardini mare Collective, and his second dam (maternal grandmother) is two-time Grade 1 winner Composure.
