Shantisara (IRE)

An Irish-bred filly originally based in France, Shantisara made her American debut in the Boiling Springs Stakes at Monmouth Park on June 26, 2021. As the 2.90-1 second choice, she made a mild rally and got up for second. 

Next out, in the Grade 3 Pucker Up Stakes at Arlington on Aug. 14, Shantisara made an explosive move in the stretch to win by three lengths going away under Flavien Prat. 

Shantisara added another stakes win to her credentials in the Jockey Club Oaks Invitational at Belmont Park on Sept. 18. Prat rated her right off the early leader, stablemate Higher Truth, then battled in the stretch with that rival and wore her down for the victory. She followed that performance with an impressive 2 1/2 length win in the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes Presented by Dixiana at Keeneland on Oct. 16. 

Shantisara finished second in the Grade 1 Jenny Wiley Stakes in her 4-year-old bow in the spring at Keeneland but did not race again until the fall Keeneland meet when she was unplaced in the Fall Harvest Stakes Presented by Mint Gaming Hall.

She showed much-improved form in her first start of 2023 when a fast-closing second in the $500,000 TAA Pegasus World Cup Filly and Mare Turf Invitational Stakes Presented by Pepsi Jan. 28 at Gulfstream Park. Shantisara returned to the winner's circle in the second start of her 5-year-old season, putting away pacesetter Scotish Star in the stretch of the $225,000, Grade 2 Hillsborough Stakes March 11 at Tampa Bay Downs en route to a 1 1/4-length victory in 1:47.14 for 1 1/8 miles.
