Scottish Lassie

Scottish Lassie began her career as a 2-year-old with a third-place finish in a seven-furlong Saratoga allowance race on Sept. 1, 2024. Her second start came in the Grade 1 $400,000 Frizette Stakes on Oct. 5 at Belmont at the Big A. As a maiden facing a field of winners including a pair of stakes winners in the Frizette, Scottish Lassie was sent off at 6.50-1 odds fourth choice in a field of seven fillies but emerged as much, much the best that day with a runaway nine-length victory. Scottish Lassie stalked the pace close-up throughout the race, made a big move to challenge the leader at the top of the lane and then drew clear in powerful fashion, lengthening her advantage throughout the stretch enroute to an easy victory at the distance of one mile. In addition to annually being a key prep race on the road to the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies, the Frizette was also a Breeders' Cup Challenge Series "win and you're in" race, ensuring Scottish Lassie an expense-paid Breeders' Cup berth.

Scottish Lassie made her next start in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies on Nov. 1 at Del Mar and finished fourth in a nine-horse field, beaten seven lengths.

Following a six-month layoff, Scottish Lassie returned to made her seasonal 3-year-old debut on May 1, 2025, in an allowance optional claiming race at Belmont at the Big A and finished third. She returned to stakes competition in her next race in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes at Saratoga on June 6 and again finished third.

Scottish Lassie's 3-year-old breakthrough came in her next start in the Grade 1 $500,000 Coaching Club American Oaks Invitational going 1 1/8 miles at Saratoga on July 19. Sent off as the 2.35-1 second choice on the tote board in a four-horse field in the CCA Oaks, Scottish Lassie took early control of the race, was never seriously threatened, and absolutely demolished her three rivals including 2024 champion 2-year-old Immersive by a final winning margin of 15 1/2 lengths in a time of 1:50.23.

Scottish Lassie is trained by Jorge Abreu. She was bred in Kentucky by the sire McKinzie out of the mare Bodebabe by Bodemeister.
