Ride a Comet

Ride a Comet, a Candy Ride colt owned by John Oxley and My Meadowview Farm and trained by Mark Casse, won his fourth career start at Fair Grounds in December 2017 and progressed well into his 3-year-old season, winning three of his first five 2018 starts and finishing third in the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Stakes at Saratoga.

Following that effort, Casse shipped Ride a Comet to Southern California for the Grade 2 Del Mar Derby on Sept. 2, and the colt rallied strongly in the stretch to pick up his first stakes win by 1 ½ lengths under Drayden Van Dyke.

Sidelined for more than two years, Ride a Comet returned in October 2020 at Woodbine and won a seven-furlong sprint in the synthetic main track by two lengths. Returned to stakes competition for the Grade 2 Kennedy Road Stakes Nov. 21 at Woodbine, Ride a Comet rallied powerfully to take command in the stretch and drew clear in the stretch to win by 1 1/4 lengths against a field that included star sprinter Pink Lloyd.

Ride a Comet made his 6-year-old debut in the Grade 3 Tropical Turf Stakes Jan. 9 at Gulfstream Park, where he stalked the pace from fourth and rallied powerfully to reel in pacesetter Frostmourne and runner-up Casa Creed for a half-length victory.
